APPLICATION by DOF Subsea Canada Corp., pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence.

APPLICATION

DOF Subsea Canada Corp. applied, through its Canadian representative, for a licence to use the "SKANDI SKOLTEN", a Bahamian multi-purpose support ship, to be used as primary installation vessel of the Production Field Centre, an offshore production facility that is to be installed in the Deep Panuke Gas Field, on the Scotian Shelf 250 kilometres southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and also to provide support to the platform, commencing on June 15 and ending on October 30, 2011.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

FACTS AND DETERMINATION

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
