IN THE MATTER OF the operation of scheduled international services by Canadian Airlines International Ltd. carrying on business under the firm name and style of either Canadian Airlines International or Canadian - Licence Nos. A.T.C. 740/55(CF) and A.T.B. 234/57(CF).

WHEREAS under Licence No. A.T.C. 740/55(CF), Canadian Airlines International Ltd. carrying on business under the firm name and style of Canadian Airlines International or Canadian (hereinafter Canadian) is authorized to operate a scheduled international service to transport persons, goods and mail from any point or points in Canada to Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Rome and Milan, Italy; Athens, Greece; and Tel Aviv, Israel;

WHEREAS under Licence No. A.T.B. 234/57(CF), Canadian is authorized to operate a scheduled international service to transport persons, goods and mail serving the points Montreal, P.Q. and Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Lisbon, Portugal; Madrid, Spain; The Azores; Athens, Greece; Rome, Italy and Tel Aviv, Israel;

WHEREAS pursuant to Diplomatic Notes Nos. 5006 dated January 11, 1988, 0023 dated April 19, 1988 and 69 dated May 4, 1988, Air Canada is now designated in lieu of Canadian to provide scheduled international service to Lisbon, Portugal, Madrid, Spain and Athens, Greece;

WHEREAS in light of the aforementioned change of designation, the National Transportation Agency has determined that Canadian ceases to have the qualifications necessary for the issuance of the said licences in respect of the points Lisbon, Portugal, Madrid, Spain and Athens, Greece; and

WHEREAS the Agency has reviewed the matter and considers it appropriate to cancel the authority to serve the points Lisbon, Portugal; Madrid, Spain and Athens, Greece under Licence Nos. A.T.C. 740/55(CF) and A.T.B. 234/57(CF).

IT IS ORDERED THAT:

The authority to serve Lisbon, Portugal; Madrid, Spain and Athens, Greece under Licence Nos. A.T.C. 740/55(CF) and A.T.B. 234/57(CF) is hereby cancelled pursuant to subsection 92(1) of the National Transportation Act, 1987, S.C. 1987, c. 34.

Replacement licences will be issued to Canadian Airlines International Ltd. carrying on business under the firm name and style of either Canadian Airlines International or Canadian pursuant to subsection 109(3) of the National Transportation Act, 1987.
