APPLICATION by Suncor Energy Products Inc., pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence.
Suncor Energy Products Inc. applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “AMALTHEA”, a Greek tanker, to transport approximately 450,000 barrels of crude oil from Nederland, Texas, United States of America for discharge at Montréal, Quebec and/or Portland, Maine, United States of America, via pipeline to Montréal, and/or Canaport, in Saint John, New Brunswick, and/or Halifax, Nova Scotia, and/or Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, and/or other locations in Atlantic Canada. The activity will commence on or about August 15 and end on or about September 13, 2015.
Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?
FACTS AND DETERMINATION
Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.
The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
