APPLICATION by Irving Oil Limited, pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence.
Irving Oil Limited applied, through its representative, for a licence to use the “BRAVO”, a Maltese tanker, to carry approximately 710,000 barrels of crude oil, in one voyage, from Whiffen Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, to Canaport, Saint John, New Brunswick, and/or Portland, Maine, United States of America via pipeline to Montréal, Quebec, and/or Halifax, Nova Scotia, and/or Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, commencing on or about January 4 and ending on or about January 10, 2012.

FACTS AND DETERMINATION
Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.
The Agency is providing this determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Decision is not an authority to operate.
