Media Advisory: The Canadian Transportation Agency’s oral hearing into possible freight rail service issues in the Vancouver area

Gatineau, Quebec – January 25, 2019 – The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) is holding an oral hearing into possible freight rail service issues in the Vancouver area.

Purpose of hearing

The purpose of the oral hearing is to allow the CTA to gather additional information as part of its investigation into freight rail service issues in the Vancouver area. 

Along with the information gathered by the Inquiry Officer and final written submissions by participants, the information received during the hearing will be considered by the CTA in making its determination.

Media representatives may observe the hearing. Cameras will only be allowed in the room to get cover shots and for the Chair’s opening remarks at 9:00 a.m. on January 29, 2019. The seating capacity will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.

No interviews will be granted with Panel Members or CTA staff. CTA decisions, submissions made by other parties or any other evidence speak for themselves. Staff cannot provide interpretation or explanations of any information that is on the public record.
