APPLICATION by Petro-Nav Inc., pursuant to the Coasting Trade Act, S.C., 1992, c. 31, for a licence.

Petro-Nav Inc. applied for a licence to use one unknown oil/chemical tanker, to transport dirty and clean petroleum products, in multiple voyages of approximately 10,000 to 18,000 cubic metres each, from Montréal, Quebec to Sarnia, Ontario and/or Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and/or Thunder Bay, Ontario and/or Oakville, Ontario and/or Hamilton, Ontario and/or Montréal and/or Mississauga, Ontario; from Sarnia to Oakville and/or Montréal; from Lévis, Quebec to Québec, Quebec and/or Sarnia and/or Oakville and/or Hamilton and/or Montréal and/or Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador and/or Sydney, Nova Scotia and/or Sept-Îles, Quebec and/or Gaspé, Quebec and/or Port‑Cartier, Quebec and/or Halifax, Nova Scotia; from Québec to Hamilton; and from Come By Chance, Newfoundland and Labrador to Mississauga. The activity will start on May 15, 2018 and will end on June 13, 2018.

Is there a suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity?

Canadian Transportation Agency (Agency) staff gave notice of the application to the Canadian marine industry and no Canadian ships were offered. Therefore, the Agency determines that there is no suitable Canadian ship available to perform the activity.

The Agency is providing this Determination to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to consider whether to issue the licence. This Determination is not an authority to operate.
